What is 'Step Into Audiology'?

‘Step into Audiology’ is a collaboration between the University of Leeds, the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, aimed at providing you with an insight into Audiology. It is an outreach programme that will allow you to find out more about Audiology as a profession and career, and what it would be like to study Audiology at University.

What’s included in the Step Into Audiology programme?

The programme includes two in-person Insight Days to give you a flavour of Audiology. Both taking place in Spring 2024, the first event will be held at one of the Trust’s hospitals, with the second event taking place at the University of Leeds campus. You’ll take part in practical taster sessions and hear from current Audiologists and students about their experiences.

What are the eligibility criteria?

Step Into Audiology is designed for Year 12 students that have an interest in Audiology or the Health Sciences, and is open to those who are studying a Science A-Level or a vocational Science qualification- such as BTEC Applied Science.

Students applying to Step Into Audiology must meet the following criteria:

  • Year 12 / first year college student.
  • Have achieved / be studying suitable GCSE's and A Levels (or equivalent Vocational Science Qualification, e.g. BTEC Applied Science) to study Audiology at a selective university.
  • Able to commit to attending two in-person Insight Days in Spring 2024, one at a local Hospital and one at the University of Leeds Campus
