About this event
Allied Health Professionals (AHP) are specialist medical professionals who assess, treat, and diagnose patients across a range of specialisms. At Leeds, we offer accredited Healthcare Science courses for Audiology, Cardiac Physiology and Diagnostic Radiography.
Have you ever considered the physics and maths involved in producing an x-ray? Or about the chemistry involved in blood clotting and cardiac arrest? Or, the combination of physics and psychology involved in hearing and sound recognition?
Whilst all three of our practical courses involve plenty of biology, there is much more to these healthcare professions than understanding human anatomy and physiology.
On our Taster Day you will get the opportunity to experience mini-lectures explaining all about Audiology, Cardiac Physiology and Radiography. You will participate in practical activities using our bespoke software, dummy patients, and clinical equipment. This day will also focus on the application process with advice on writing personal statements and developing interview skills.
Eligibility Criteria
This event is open to current Year 12 / first year college students who are studying at least one science A-level (Biology, Human Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Physics, and Psychology) and who are interested in studying a healthcare related degree at University.
This event is also open to Year 12 / first year college students studying BTEC Applied Science.
