- Categories: 11-16 Taster Days
Our Pre-16 events aim to bring the world of Medicine and Health to life. Through introductory taster sessions ranging from the practicalities of delivering basic life support, to learning about the science behind medicine, students will discover the background to a wide range of areas that can be studied at the University of Leeds whilst having a tour of our world class campus and finding out about the many benefits of higher education.
About the day
This Taster Day will introduce students to the wide range of healthcare professions and career opportunities available through continuing into Higher Education. Touching on the academic requirements to study these courses, the day puts an emphasis on developing both academic and transferable skills that are needed to succeed in a health career. Through hands on taster sessions and mini-lectures, students will learn more about the benefits of Higher Education and pursuing a career in health. They will also get the chance to look around the University of Leeds campus and ask questions of our current undergraduate students. Lunch is provided on the day at our student Refectory.
Who is this event for?
This event is for Year 7 and 8 students who have shown the potential to attend a research intensive university (such as top set science students). They should also have an interest in pursuing a health related career in the future.
